It's been noted that under certain engine conditions (backfiring) the plastic upper intake manifolds on 3800 vehicles will literally explode or blow out. More frequently people see melting of the manifold around the EGR area either resulting in a sizeable vacuum leak or worse yet a direct line for coolant to enter the engine through the EGR valve. This manifold is reinforced and designed to remedy all issues with the standard 3800 manifolds.
