New W Body Store Opti-Trac Caliper kits

With all the hype surrounding our new brake kits you might be wondering what goes into them to make them perform so well. The answer is in our new Opti-Trac dual piston aluminum calipers. Designed as a package for our new Stage III brake kits the Opti-Trac calipers and utilize custom brackets for the ultimate in braking performance and weight savings. So then what makes the Opti-Trac calipers better than our other offerings? We're glad you were wondering!

You can find our new Opti-Trac Calipers kits on both our 12" and 12.7" brake upgrade kits!

Structural Integrity

Standard Stage II Calipers - The competition's F Body kit and our Stage II upgrade utilize sand cast aluminum calipers with partial ribbing across the caliper shell. In extreme cases we've seen the calipers bend.

Opti-Trac Calipers - Opti-Trac Caliper kits feature high pressure forged castings, machined surfaces, and full ribbing across the body of the caliper shell. The forged casting and ribbed shell ensure that the caliper does not bend under extreme conditions whereas the machined surfaces provide for a much better finish and easier sealing of brake lines.

Below we can see the differences between the Stage II calipers and our new Opti-Trac Calipers. On the right we can spot the superior machining of the Opti-Trac calipers as well as the smaller, thicker pistons they use.

Pedal Feel

Standard Stage II Calipers - Some have expressed a low brake pedal when using the Stage II Calipers/ F Body setup. The reason for this is because of a significant increase in system volume combined with an undersized master cylinder.

Opti-Trac Calipers - The Opti-Trac upgrade offers a significant improvement in pedal feel by utilizing smaller caliper pistons which take up less volume. The smaller caliper pistons are also thicker for increased strength.

Plug and Play

Standard Stage II Calipers - Stage II Calipers and our competition's F Body upgrade utilize sleeves that allow usage of 12mm bolts rather than the W Body's stock 14mm bolts.

Opti-trac Calipers - Opti-Trac kits are Plug and Play and utilize the stock 14mm bolt which is better suited for higher performance applications.

Here we can see the full ribbing across the shell of the caliper.
